Cyberbullying and the Silent War on Mental Health: A Call for Justice and Compassion

In today’s hyper-connected world, words travel faster than light, and sadly, so does hate. Behind every screen is a soul — some fighting silent battles, some barely hanging on. I am one of them. And today, I speak for all of us.

Cyberbullying is not just “online drama.” It’s digital warfare on the human spirit. It’s stalking, death threats, lies, character assassination, and public humiliation — all dressed up as freedom of speech. But where is freedom when it steals someone’s peace, safety, and dignity?

For over a year, I have been a target of relentless cyberbullying. I reported, I asked for help — from NGOs, from authorities. But I was met with silence.

Meanwhile, the slanders, the threats, and the trauma kept building. I was pushed into the shadows, diagnosed with major depressive disorder. I lost parts of myself I may never fully recover.

To survive, I now rely on medication: Sertraline and Mirtazapine.

They help me stay functional, but they cannot erase the fear. Every knock on the door, every message alert, still shakes me. But I thank the psychiatric team who’s always been for me. In a world that often shames and judges, they were kind, professional, and never made me feel less than human.

Mental health is not a trend. It’s a crisis. Words can kill, and those who weaponize them are accountable. Cyberbullying causes panic attacks, suicidal ideation, PTSD, and soul exhaustion. To the perpetrators — you are not just hurting feelings. You are dismantling lives.

This is more than my story.

It’s a plea. For our government. For our lawmakers. For our society:
 • Recognize online abuse as a serious crime.
 • Create a stronger task force to act on mental health-linked bullying reports.
 • Train authorities to respond faster and more empathetically.
 • Let no victim be told “it’s just online.” It is never “just.”

To those suffering in silence: You are not alone. Speak up. Get help. And if no one listens, I will.

And to the society — we can’t afford to be quiet anymore.

Bullying kills. Silence kills. Bureaucracy kills.

Let’s choose compassion.

Let’s choose light.

Even if it costs everything,

I will never stop standing up for truth, justice, and love.
